That's because Senor Pink was an amazingly well told character with a rough backstory.

Oden's entire backstory was so hilariously FORCED and OTT to the lore of the series, it just made people fucking hate his guts and couldn't wait for him to get cooked in a pot like his historical counterpart. Just an incredibly badly written character.
