If that's true then it will definitely help him in court, particularly if he can get a witness to attest to it. A verbal threat to kill you is a strong justification for a defense shooting. Its not enough by itself; but in conjunction with the blacks flanking him and the first dude reaching for his bag it makes a strong case, particularly if there was indeed a gun in the bag.
