I don't think his point is that Kinkade doesn't have talent. Kinkade's art is clearly high quality. The issue is that it doesn't really have any meaning behind it, it's only there to evoke a feeling of coziness and nostalgia.

Which I disagree with him on it being a bad thing. Kinkade and Rockwell have a very important place in the American art scene. The evocation of coziness and nostalgia for a better time in our history is important. The paintings tell a story that photographs just can't.
