You swipe your keycard in front of the scanner. A light on it turns green and it plays small, pleasant electric chirp.
"ACCESS GRANTED".
The airlock door slowly rises from the ground, creaking and groaning with every small movement it makes. You wait until there's enough clearance before you duck into the containment cell.
The airlock shuts behind you, sealing itself shut to make sure nothing can get out. Luckily there's another keycard scanner on the other side so you're not stuck here.
You turn to face whatever's inside of the containment cell. The cell is a featureless steel grey cube that's big enough for three or four people to stand in comfortably. The walls, floor and ceiling are free of any slime mold (thankfully) but it is pretty damn dusty in here.
The ceiling's overhead lighting keeps the room well lit. It's a nice reprieve from the dank, musty lab you had to work in for the last few hours.
You glance down at the floor.
https://youtu.be/FHtCVu3JYPM - ANOMALY WORK
A large flower bed with flowers of every color you could think of seems to be growing out of the floor. Sunflowers, roses, tulips, pansies and some others you don't immediately recognize.
The first thing that catches your eye is something you couldn't make out from the grainy photo. The stems of the flowers are made out of cabling instead of plant matter. The color seems to match with the color of the flower. Sunflowers get yellow cables, red roses get red cables, etc.
Odd. You step closer to the flower bed and that's when the smell hits you. A sickly sweet rot that slams into your nose with the force of a baseball bat. It's strong enough where you can taste it on your tongue. It's a mixture of flowery fragrance and rotten, moldy meat.
Guess you should've expected that. The photo did show a corpse. Several human limbs poke out of the edges of the flower bed. You do a quick count of how many it has. One, two, three, five, eight...ten, twelve...twenty?
You gulp. You're not sure what kind of corpse has twenty arms but it certainly can't be a human one.
You can't make out anything else about the corpse thanks to the flowers covering it.
The ceiling light begins to flicker. You try to figure out how the anomaly is doing this because this is going to be a pain of the ass if it keeps happening.
Several of its hands clench and unclench as if they're trying to grab onto something. Once the flickering stops, the hands stop as well.
You swore you heard some kind of noise coming from within the flower bed. It was too quiet to really make out over the flickering but you don't think your gut is lying to you.
Hm.
ANOMALY WORK
-Anomalies are all unique and vary from creature to creature but most anomalies share one thing in common. You need to watch their MOOD.
