Of all the things that changed in the second half of this story, the thing that didn’t change is that it is completely polarized.
The “traditional wedding” was spectacular!
But, unfortunately, that was almost the only good thing. The story seems to only flip back and forth between an incredible worldbuilding scene and fairly poor worldbuilding mundanity. From what I can tell from the retrospective blog, the other thing that was supposed to be good worldbuilding was the parents conference. I guess compared to a real one, it may have been fantastically pleasant, but I couldn’t do anything but skim it when they were talking about setting up foalsitting dates.
More than that, I switched to skimming fairly early on in this week’s reading, especially when it was revealed that Rose wasn’t dead, and all the memories related to her foaling. The second half definitely had less than the first going for it, and the only other mildly good thing I can remember are the earth pony plant growing magic scenes.
I don't have anything good to say about Pinkie, but I'll tack on another complaint to this here about there being a hospital bill. Bad worldbuilding for lots of reasons. On the whole, I can't imagine ever recommending the story.
