You have no idea how ridiculously false that is. One of my favorite manga that I own doesn't even have english translations, and most of the others have terrible translations. You miss out on puns and cultural references that sometimes make up like 50% of the jokes and dialogue. It's absolutely worth learning japanese if you're into the real nerd shit. There is no western equivalent of a lot of japanese subgenres.
