It's known that NECA didn't make it cartoon accurate. Everyone knows this and no one is claiming otherwise. They do represent >>11459996 >>11459957 >>11459865 pretty well though.
Do note that the wings are so wide in almost every gif I've posted that they can't even keep them in frame.
So if NECA can only provide one set of wings with every figure, it's a no brainer that they use spread out wings, because it's actually common for them to spread their wings out, whether on the ground or for flight.

Again, why lie about them keeping their wings in when they're on the ground, just because you want to fit them in your tiny shelves? If they did what you wanted, actual fans who remember the cartoon would be disappointed, and even raging, that they included the wrong wings.
