A masterpiece. One of my favourites also. I think there's truths within it, but more in the observations of human nature than in the fantasy sequences. Although perhaps with another read I'd feel differently, it's many years since I last read it.

Bulgakov was a remarkable man. The story of it's writing and how the book eventually made it into print is almost as inspiring as the work itself.
