Not even for a funeral:
Col. Eshel, wearing a uniform, a weapon hanging on his shoulder, let go of the idea of conscription and asked the rabbi "Can I ask at this time that every guy go to the funeral once".

Rabbi Lando was shocked by the idea. "Has and hello, a guy needs to learn", he replied. Eshel did not let go. "And visit one wounded man?". Rabbi Lando was not ready to hear about that either. "A very sensitive person, it can interfere with the whole study, he will look injured, he cannot live afterwards".

And you see this encounter and your soul seeks to explode. There are people walking around among us who have lost father and brother and son, people who have spent many months in the hospitals and will no longer be able to get to their feet, people whose bread is broken, people who are fighting to maintain a relationship that the war and the long distance threaten to break up, and what do we ask of you in view of all this? Almost nothing. Give a hug. That you come to throw away a comforting word or an encouraging Torah word. Just so we know that what we are going through touches you. We ask, and our hand does not meet a sister hand.
