Artists tend to be too obsessed with their own ideas and need someone above them to knock some sense into them and tell them when their ideas are bad.
Most artists hide their narcissism behind self-loathing and depression and shit but their self-conceit is the source of their shame. They don't wanna admit it but they can't stand the thought that they are not talented enough, clever enough and original enough to be free to do whatever they want.
