checkpoint merging, unfortunately i have no clue
region prompting and inpainting in comfy tho is imo very simple at least conceptually
inpainting can literally be as simple as an i2i workflow where you replace the encode with an 'encode (for inpainting)'
this allows for a mask input. the load image node has its own mask output. if you right click the image you can see a menu to open a mask editor. connect and viola it will only gen within whatever you masked
regional prompting can be extrapolated from this, right? I can mask out half the image and prompt a character to force the character into the masked space. Then say, i can link two samplers. the first selectively gens each half of an image separately to make two distinct characters. then the result of this is fed into a second sampler (i2i) which regenerates at a low denoise setting with the same prompt to "glue" everything together and make it one cohesive image
and thats just one way to do it
