Just how fucked (no pun intended) is the eraMegaten setting?

I started thinking of this when i got the first Digital Devil Saga event, apparently besides Serph and the gang, the P5 characters start pouring in from another dimension, so it got me thinking "That means that there's at least a black sun outside fucking things up, right? How does the rest of the world still working like this?"

Obviously, none of this crap matters at all, it was never intended to make sense, i just found it funny how many layers of apocalypse that world must be
