Maru is an inversion of Rin regarding memory and repression and there's a reason Saeko's post-Maru conversation revolves around erasing painful memories instead of around I dunno the exercise of power or the development of morality in pre-ethical childhood, but there's a problem in that Maru's too much of a textbook case and no real life person ever hews that close to textbook. Maru is literally the only unrealistic personality in the story, god knows everyone's met an office snake or a woman understander in real life.

Rin does not remember any existence before he entered the drawer/developed the fetish, and neither do I. As far as I know I have always been in the drawer.

Moko entered the drawer through porn escalation. Maru by shame repression. Kina by lesbianism. Yui through sadomasochism.
