While there could eventually be a breakthrough on the Boomer Blight by pursuing current leads, you agree with Arcade that traveling to Zion to get samples of their variant is the next step in finding a cure, a treatment or even understanding what the hell is going on.

With the month you’ve had, you’re thankful that Arcade and Doctor Henry plan the research mission themselves. You earmark 10,000 caps for any expenses they may encounter and authorize the use of the Vertibird for ease of transport and to ensure the mission returns within a month for continued study of the specimens.

Doctor Henry stays behind, citing his health and importance to keep one senior research member in the Mojave. Arcade takes a few research assistants, munitions and plenty of medical supplies given by the Followers to help the Zion tribes get back on their feet.

You miss their departure, being busy with the negotiations over the new governmental charter and due to the weak radio in the Vertibird, don’t expect a report until the mission returns at the end of the month.

With hostiles cleared from the Valley and Joshua Graham and his tribe still residing in Zion, you’re not worried about them running into any trouble. And you know the combat acumen of Arcade. He may be a bookworm, but he’s better with that plasma pistol than almost everyone else you know.

Your worry increases when the Vertibird does not return at the end of the month. It reaches a fever pitch when you read an unrelated report by the Secretary of Commerce noting the lack of caravans coming from the North. While there’s no real economic powerhouse in the vicinity, there’s always a handful a week.

But now there’s none, no visitors either. One of these may be a coincidence, both together paint a worrying scene. Daniel and his flock are returning to Zion next month, loaded up with supplies and a few volunteers.

You could send a message with them to look out for the team, or just head up with them if you’re being overly cautious.

Of course, maybe you’re worrying over nothing and there’s a good explanation for all of it. You have much more pressing matters to attend to as well, the research team is probably enjoying the absolute beauty of the valley.

Right?
