Overwatch is a good example of this too. A new IP that was being shilled fucking relentlessly for ~18 months everywhere - TV, billboards, brick and mortar stores, public transportation etc. etc. - even in smaller countries where videogames don't really get much advertising attention. Even though Blizzard did their best to sabotage it at every turn and they bled most of the playerbase away after only a year, it was a huge success in that first year largely thanks to sheer marketing power.
