i think the expectation on men's shoulder's to 'compete', as it were, have crushed them. the mountain seems to insurmountable and the rewards lacking.
a man achieving a 'middleclass' life, is seen as worthless or worthy of being mocked, due to social media. so there seems to be a sense of 'if i can't become a multimillionaire, what am i even alive for?'

even if you achieve middleclass status, whatever that means these days, that doesn't mean you will attain the trappings that had been associated with that distinction from generations past.

this has caused men to isolate because they feel hopeless and let down in many ways.
