I had an ex like this, we both got together because we really liked each other personalities. The relationship was really fun, but because neither of us found the other "hot" we hardly ever had sex or had any other intimacy. We broke up because we realised we were just good friends, not a couple.
I'm guessing thats what happened here. She got with him because he was a "safe bet", maybe she was insecure because of her ADHD or whatever she has and thought no one else would want her.
