I agree that you SHOULD do good works though, we are saved to the PURPOSE of doing good works. yet salvation is WITHOUT WORKS, entirely through FAITH in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
>For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

>Not of works, lest any man should boast.

>For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Yet Catholic/ Orthodox/ various Protestant churches confuse this, and end up teaching doctrines which will send their congregations to hell (dealing that they are saved by good works). Galatians 5:2-4 is an example of the inclusion of works as a necessity corrupting the Gospel. Replace circumcision here with tithing, baptism, confession, giving to charity, volunteering, etc.
>Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

>For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

>Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
Christ's sacrifice at the cross was the full payment, not a down payment for a mortgage.
