take White Mage, for example; it's main single-targets heals are Afflatus Solace (level 52), and Tetragrammaton (lvl 60). Your main methods of dealing with raid-wide aoe damage are Afflatus Rapture (level 76), Temperance (level 80) and Liturgy of the Bell (level 90). It doesn't even get its AoE until level 45, and Afflatus Rapture, also known as Blood Lily (level 74) also makes using the other Afflatus spells feel a lot better
On the tank side, for instance, a Dark Knight doesn't get its main mitigation ability (Darkest Night) until level 70, and it's Blood Gauge abilities only come throughout Stormblood. Paladin only starts getting the magic burst it's known for at max level in mid-Stormblood as well (64, 68, 80, 90, 96 and 100).
