I'm guessing it'll be some kind of character death, but I'd actually really appreciate it being a more somber, unavoidable thing. Something like the worlds having to be permanently separated, or that the Darkworld is entirely gone.
No more living in a fantasy world of adventure where Darkners either live to serve, or live to entertain. No more sense of identity or drive for the characters; back to the real world and what's in front of them. No more Ralsei, no more Lancer, nothing. Just the quiet understanding that it all has to return to normal. That there is no carrying friends out of that world, and that everything Ralsei is saying about Kris/Susie needing to find "real" friends is true.
Maybe the sacrifice/tragedy that happens is that the soul uses up whatever purpose or magic it has to finally seal the dark fountain in Ralsei's kingdom. That the only way to make sure everything is safe is to give it all up. And then, on the flipside, things like Snowgrave will fight back against that, always looking for another way, finding enjoyment in using the world like a playground, and, inevitably, prolonging what has to happen.
Again, it'll probably be a death of some kind, but it would be cool to have something a bit more quiet. Something that, despite all of Susie's bravado and Ralsei's wish for a different end, it just has to happen.
