Great movement that's its biggest draw and its biggest issue at the same time.
On one hand, those who enjoy expressing their skills will find a great playground for little skips, skill expression aplenty.
On the other, it is inarguably the most broken Mario's ever been from a movement standpoint, with Cappy Dive being essentially a double jump, and a really good one at that. Not once in the game does the level design even try to accomodate for the sheer brokenness of Mario, and admitedly, that's for the better, because it would be very restrictive and unfun. MAYBE the game could have used a bit more capless challenges, I still remember the bullet & banzai bill capless moons as a highlight of the game.
I'm part of the first category, which usually isn't the case as "Make your own fun" type of games rarely over substantial gameplay, rather it focuses on customisation, or the world, or other stuff I tend to find superfluous. Odyssey isn't that.
My only gripes are that the OST is somewhat unremarkable. My favorite tracks are Bowser's Castle 1 and Another World. Can't say I care for most everything else.
