Ditto. I didn't know shit as a kid, I wasn't like "Wow, vampires aren't supposed to be black and speak like Red Foxx!" because I'd seen like 2 vampires. I just thought he was funny because vampires are supposed to be strong terrors of the night, and he was some cranky weird old dude who needs to SCRAPE AND LICK to get by.
