Most definitely. Have you *seen* how deranged americans are about dogs? Back when I first heard that it's haram to keep dogs as pets I was legitimately confused, but it's the one thing I most believe in nowadays. Unlike cats, who groom themselves and properly pee in the litter box, dogs are foul beasts who require a lot of maintenance just so they don't shit all over your home then lick their poop then go make out with their human. It's the definition of gross.
The same word for why dogs are unclean is used for sodomy... it's نجاسة, something that's not only unclean but can never be 100% clean.
This is something that'll confuse you guys since cats and dogs are seen as THE unarguable pets, but it's interesting to see other perspectives about things regarded as just normal.
