"It's big in here." Phascomon remarks.
As you walk across the wave bridge, the dark background fades into a lighter fog. Now that you're no longer in the near-infinite Network, everything beyond your render distance is blue instead of black, just like in the Data Center. You see numerous tubes snaking their way through the system, their open mouths facing you and the group.
Squid is back on the line, so you point to them and send her an image from your goggles.
"Squid, what are those?"
"Mail tubes."
"They get mail here?" Otamamon boy asks.
"Yeah! Remember, the Network is for information transmit. And it's fast. Whenever servitors send out orders for Digimon scans, they use these tubes. The data shoots through the same sort of path you all were taking, and gets sucked up by the-"
Right as she says that, a packet of data blasts out from behind you. All of you react in different ways. Some get behind their partners, while you take a step back and open up your inventory to pull out your freeze code. Wind has his gun drawn, while Bella has fallen over in surprise.
"... Like that." Wind says, slowly lowering his weapon.
The packet goes straight for a tube and is sent further into the system. It's too fast to feasibly intercept. You all begin moving, not wanting to get scared by another blitzing message. You speak to Squid as you walk.
"Hey, what was with that Digimon from earlier? Why did you tell us not to attack?"
"I recognize it. That's an exploding Digimon."
"We did see a bunch of booming after we left it."
"Yeah. It uses mines! And if you defeat it, it just explodes and destroys itself. So it's really not worth much as a target."
"Didn't look like a complete pushover once it was fighting either."
You put the Digimon aside and go catch up to your two squad members.
