Consider this: which god will live longer: Jesus or Amaterasu? You'd want to say the former, but the truth is its the latter. The US has 400K Churches while Japan has over 150K shrines. Japan is one-third the size of the US, so there are more Shrines. Moreover, Churches are closing down all over the US. So how is Japan, a century believed to be atheist, have more religious structures and likely in better condition.

This is because Christianity has warped our view of religion. Shintoism is a religion FOR the Japanese. It wouldn't make sense for a White guy to follow Shintoism. Its a faith that is integrated into the culture of the country. You can't separate them. Christianity is the opposite. Its for ALL men regardless of race or creed. So its why Pablo should be let in your country and attend your Church. He's the same as you. Moreover, Christianity hovers above the culture. It has to be separate from it. It has its moral code that your people must follow. One faith is off the culture and the other is above it.

Christianity is declining in the West. In the US, most people under 30 aren't Christian. The Boomers make up most of the Christians and when they die off, the faith will weaken. Something else should replace it and what that should be is a faith tied to the culture be it Hellenic, Celtic, Norse, whatever. We know more about our world and Paganism is more compatible with our understanding. Man is a creature of nature. Paganism saw him as a part of that. Christianity, on the other hand, whats you to believe that the earth is flat and only 6,000 years old. Is it any wonder the Pagans of Rome thought Christians were dumb.

The challenge will be that a lot of Pagan lore was lost, but at the same time, we can add and expand it. Paganism was a lot more colloquial so I doubt our forefather would care much if we added new fables and changed existing ones a bit. Its likely what they did too. But the faith we have is OURS
