Yeah, but the whole "last of their kind" thing always gets old quick. There's honestly not much story you can actually mine out of that premise, so the logical direction is to reveal that they weren't actually the last one.
For a good example of this, look at Ratchet and Clank. The last lombax thing was already tiresome when it was introduced. Now if there's ever another game, they kind of HAVE to go to the lombax dimension, cause everyone was already sick of this shit.
