Maybe it's just a cultural thing, those clawlike false nails evoke images of fat, aggressive mexican women with drawn on eyebrows. I imagine they don't come with stereotypes like that over there where you live. The thought that it's "fancy" is crazy to me, it's like a "I am a drug addict with a tramp stamp" signal to my brain.
