The Russian war economy is exhausted, as per Nabiullina last week, and stockpiles are essentially depleted. They can't repair old stock quickly enough to the burn rate at the front, hence why they're using low-tech cheap stuff now. The Russian war effort is basically maxed out and all they can afford to do right now given their manpower and materiel constraints is zergrush into drone lines over and over again on motorbikes. This is what Ukrainians and Russians say daily on TG. That's what the war has become. Russians suiciding into defensive drone filled positions.
The ground invasion only continues because Ukrainians are exercising a defence in depth doctrine since late 2023. They allow Russians to advance slowly into Ukraine to meet their demise. It's a pretty efficient style of warfare in terms of equipment and manpower losses from the Ukrainian side. And the increased pace of Russian advance this year has been met in kind with proportional Russian losses. Of course none of their advances lately have taken anything noteworthy, mostly empty land. Their last captured "city" was Bakhmut and that was over two years ago.
