I'm hesitating between the two islands for my next trip around the end of August, and I'll have 7-8 days to visit one of them.

I speak English and French, so Corsica would be easier, but I like a change of scenery, and Sardinia also appeals to me. I will probably rent a car too to help me get around

Do you have any recommendations for which island I'd prefer, given that I'll be traveling alone and like to venture inland and get away from the tourist areas?
