Russia always had an issue that their homegrown companies were not competitive with European companies (be it the lack of technology resulting in inferior products or higher prices), and thanks to the sanctions, they now have flourished and picked up steam, and because they are under sanctions, there is no reason to not just steal Western IP making their products competitive again.
On the petrol front, it's a fucking joke. US and India are buying oil from Russia and selling it to the EU. You can look at their ship routes, and it's just an infinite loop in the Baltics.
Russia's debt is non-existent, while countries like France add 5k euros to their debt pile every second. And they are the ones not hiding anything. Imagine how much better the countries that keep those values more private...

TL;DR
Russia is not doing great, but when compared to any country in the EU, they are rocking...
