I designed my combat system around most abilities causing condition effects (Sundered/Fortified, Dazzled/Focused, Slowed/Quickened and some others) that do something like give -1 to certain things and these conditions having up to 3 stacks. It's played over foundry so I can just click to apply the effects from the ability posted.

Anyway I really like to get my players involved with creation of things so after we did some discussion on the values of certain things, one player came up with a chart and step by step process to making effects and mathing out how much it'll cost based on various factors. Then another player took that chart and made it into an excel thing that automates all the calculations. So you just go in, pick the actions you want, what kind of ability it is, targets/aoe type and size, conditions and durations etc etc and in the end it spits out the proper numbers for the thing you made.

I'm taking this as a sign they're fairly engaged with what I'm doing.
