Now don't get me wrong, the only safer place in the Americas is Canada, but I'd argue that the metrics used to calculate this stuff really make little difference to the actual safety of the country if you keep all your tourists contained to tourist areas.
Egypt is amazingly safe if you stay in only the villas for instance, but is otherwise a nightmare even with a tour guide.
