"The State Duma Committee supported the government's proposal to introduce administrative liability for searching for extremist materials on the Internet, including through VPN.
The State Duma has adopted in the second reading amendments to legislation that introduce fines for searching for extremist materials on the Internet, including using VPN, an RBC correspondent reports. 283 deputies voted "for", 22 "against", and 22 people abstained.
The text of the amendments states that extremist materials include those included in the published federal register of extremist materials of the Ministry of Justice or those specified in paragraph 3 of Article 1 of the federal law "On combating extremist activity." There are currently 5,473 entries in the register."
