>she has a weather forecaster certification making her better than 99% of weathernews idols
Good for her since it's a great accomplishment, but having the certification and not making forecasts sounds like a waste to me. Airin is a great caster but I'd love to see her at the forecast center's desk.
The certification helps but probably in many cases it's not a guarantee you'll be hired as a caster/weather girl above another weather girl younger/more charismatic/prettier/hotter/more charming, etc. Why not joining a weather company to create actual forecasts instead of only presenting them to the public?
WNI is the largest privately-owned weather company in the world. If they don't demand their casters to hold the certification there's a good reason for that. Namely, they won't need it 99% of the time since there are 200+ meteorologists working there who are more than willing to solve any doubt. As a caster you'll end up learning a lot while you do your actual job, and I guess that's a little worther/more satisfying than passing a test (no matter how difficult) either to show off or to not to put it into good use.
