Atari could have solved this problem itself by making their own fucking games that actually utilized the console's full capabilities and showed other devs what was possible. There's honestly no excuse for them coming to market with what was their absolute last-ditch effort and not even having any idea what the killer app was supposed to be because they were waiting for someone else to do it for them.

And it's especially hard to understand with it coming after the 16-bit era where they saw Nintendo and Sega both develop or expand on their own in-house franchises. Nintendo didn't hope people made good launch games for the SNES. They made Super Mario world and included it as the pack-in game so every fucking person who bought a SNES had a game that showcased the system's possibilities right out of the gate. How the fuck do you watch them get it exactly right and then a full console generation later just go with some exceedingly mediocre, not particularly good looking game developed by somebody else as the launch title for your supposedly incredibly advanced system? The first impressions were so important and everyone's first impression of the Jaguar was "meh."

And somehow the 3DO did the exact same fucking thing. Launched a $700 console with ONE mediocre game. Not one game as a pack-in. One game total. How did game companies five or six generations into the industry still not get that you needed games on your game consoles or nobody would give a shit? They just made these things and hoped somebody else would eventually figure out what to do with it. And we did figure it out. We put them in the trash where they belonged.

I hate how so many people confuse being able to rotate the camera around the player as having unlimited flexibility when in reality it's just a different kind of compromise. You can move the camera in any direction, sure. But you can't get the kind of unique angles and perspectives you'd get from a fixed camera because the player has to be more or less in the middle of the frame since that's what the camera is rotating around. you get a 360 view but it's always from a similar angle. And it's fucking boring.

Yes, it's true that fixed angles don't work great for everything. Sometimes you need to be able to scan your surroundings. But for classic Resident Evil it was perfect. For all the classic RPGs with pre-rendered backgrounds it was perfect. It even worked fine with action-intense shit like God of War. The new ones have the over the shoulder camera everyone wanted. Are they really any better?

MGS3 subsistence proves the point better than anything because you can switch back and forth and you can see how the fixed camera always shows you what you need to see and all the screeching about rotating cameras was just pointless whining. It's nice to have but completely unnecessary. And now every game plays and looks the same. Thanks, I hate it.

I honestly don't understand how people can STILL be discussing Chris Paul like he's some sort of valuable commodity when he hasn't been an actual impact player for years. Like, I've seen multiple people unironically rave about his performance with the Spurs last year, where he averaged a triple single and sat out 20 minutes per game on average for a bad team. As if there aren't 20 point guards in the league right now who could put up 9 and 7 while playing essentially an entire season of garbage time

Why can't basketball fans realize that in a league where the average game produces 100+ points on either side there's just a default amount of stat accrual? Somebody has to score, rebound and assist, even on bottom feeder teams. It's just empty calories
