I guess. They were contemporary. But my point with this thread isn't the individual strains of theological debate, it's that all subsequent socio-political theories stemmed from these attempts to understand God as he relates to individual actions. Arminius was just the Dvtch version

>I just regurgitate what I hear from other retards, the post
Sad! Many such cases tho
Anyways, picrelated - the theological debates of the 16th century not only made the 18th centuries socio-political revolutions possible, but in the case of the American colonies, was a foundational building block. The formation of the New World colonies, particularly Mass. and Virginia's, were an attempt at the turn of the century to foster a new, more virtuous society that could be a beacon for the Old World to cast off its tainted, sinful nature. Sandys put into actual legal practice (with the Virginia Company) the kinds of theological arguments that Arminius and others were formulating concerning multi-tiered structured governments that derived sovereignty from "the people" based on Church models. This ties directly into the American Revolution with guys like John Witherspoon, who taught James Madison, and by association laid out the framework for the branches of the Constitution.

Edwin Sandys, a literal who of history who made Rayleigh's dream of a permanent colony in the New World a reality while slyly slipping the seed of democracy into Virginia right under Charles II's nose because he was too occupied by dealing with the Spanish-Dutch War to care what some merchants were doing in a swamp on the other side of the Atlantic. Washington getting sent to tell the French to get the fuck outta the Ohio territory was directly his fault

>literal fascist neofeudalist who helped start the entire organic agriculture and modern environmental movement
Unironically based for the sheer autism he must have had
