I kinda agree but I will say something I don't like about Alear's appearance is that it doesn't really tell me what's going on personality wise. I completely understand why people find Engage's designs off putting but something I love about them is how much you tell tell about a character from their design and starting class. For example Yunaka's overly flashy design despite being a thief made me think she's trying to get away from her past even before seeing her supports. With Alear, I don't really see it but at least with that kind of black and white hair I might have thought that something was up because that kind of edgy hairstyle with Alear's generally nice personality would have made me think there's something being hidden here.
