The thing I can't stand about western fantasy (all the stuff heavily inspired by D&D at least) is that it has no respect for itself.
It's never a believable world. It's like watching people cosplay. They just smash all these races, cultures, fashions, architecture, technologies and magic together with no rhyme or reason to it. They put 0 effort into making any of it have cohesiveness, especially when every single fucking one of these games is basically "California but fantasy". Like you look at someones outfit in Baldurs Gate 3 and it's just random spikes and swoops and swirls just for the sake of it, just to have the most surface level basic bitch "cool" outfit someone making cosplay at home would make.
