I think the thing that makes me dislike romance targeted towards women, and just pandering to nerdy japanese women in general is realizing how utterly meanspirited and petty it often is. And contrary to popular belief, I think that the majority of romance stuff in videogames and anime does pander way more to nerd outcast women more than anything, always following the same Rumiko Takahashi format.
