No, Micron is only in Japan because after Japanese memory maker Elpida went bankrupt, Micron came in to buy it for cheap. Micron purchased Elpida mainly to keep cheaper memory components manufactured in Japan as part of Japanese governments deal with Micron to try and save as many jobs as possible.

Micron has R&D offices in Korea mainly to poach Korean engineers with HBM memory experience so Micron can catch up with both SK Hynix and Samsung on the latest, most advanced and profitable memory market. Japan isn't even in this race.

The only other NAND company you guys have is Kioxia and that is a partnership with US based WD and even SK Hynix is a primary owner of the company.

Japan is kill. Only kept alive by western companies.
