They didn't call themselves Turk back then, they had many Terms. There's also a lot of "houses" and branches of the Turk-Tree. I'm a Kipchak descendant for example, who were descendants of the Kumans themselves (pic rel is the stretch of the Kuman/Kipchak Khaganate) and all groups are the descendants of the Gökturks. Central Asia and it's surrounding area is literally Gökturk turf.
