>moral harm of that action
It is that you objectify a human being, and treat them as means for sexual gratification, denying them their right as a person deserving of dignity, and an end in-and-of themselves. This moral issue is exacerbated when the victim of fantasy is a child, who wouldn't even be able to consent in the first place.
If you only appreciate physical harm, consider the damage you're doing to your psyche by desensizing it to such sexual violence. Habitual porn users may shift towards more extreme content over time, just as studies have shown a link to porn and an erosion of parts of the prefrontal cortex.
>Anything short of acting as the best possible version of yourself can be construed as immoral
Intentionality is important. I want to live in a world where everyone always agrees murder is immoral, even by the people that feel forced to commit it. I view the push towards pedophilic acceptance as similar to accepting the idea that murder is okay.
Even murderers and pedos are people, and all remorseful people still have value in my opinion. I don't hate them so much as I hate the moral violation itself.
>If we quantify morality in the abstract as harm prevented, we can think of pedophiles who would under your totalitarian rule become miserable
I think they should acknowledge and deny their tendencies, yes. I admit this is not ideal for the individual, and in some regard they are victims too for being made to have such tendencies in the first place. But that doesn't excuse those thoughts or actions imo.
Most "pedos" itt probably still find attraction in adult women too, which technically contradicts the medical classification of the term. It also means they can still have hope for a normal life. My advice for them would be to treat it as an addiction; seek therapy or counseling, and try hard to not reinforce the paraphilia. Let it diminish as much as possible.
