If you see yourself playing hundreds of hours of shooters or sim racers (or truck sims) then it's worth it. Elsewise there's about 400 hours or so of actual games you can chew through. If the idea of actually being inside the game doesn't appeal to you then you can probably skip it.
For me I don't regret it at all and I basically only play VR games now since flat shooters are just uninteresting to me now. I've been spoiled.

OR if you see yourself wanting to be an anime girl in VR then it's definitely worth it
