*sips tea*
Eating animals is morally indefensible because we no longer need to eat animals to survive, so we're just killing them and forcing them to suffer not out of necessity, but rather, our own pleasure.
This scene exposes hypocrisy on both sides. People who champion this scene, but don't live a vegan lifestyle are hypocritical - they celebrate Superman rescuing a squirrel, yet eat subject other animals to torture and death that isn't necessary at all.
On the other hand, people who hate this scene, are either genuinely psychotic (would have no problem with killing or torturing dogs, puppies, kittens, etc because animals don't matter) or, are equally hypocritical because they clearly have a problem with needless animal suffering (torturing or killing stray cats and dogs for fun is wrong) yet have a problem with Superman rescuing a squirrel in a movie.
Either way, go vegan.
