I went back and checked again because I swear I would have remembered if it mentioned anything about mass civilian deaths and the only mentions I could find about what happened to the civilians in the final battle was the party holding back to not kill them and then them all "losing consciousness" somehow.
Honestly idk, chalk it up to a giant plot hole and the author not really knowing what to do with Sophia's character because even Sylvia admits that Sophia is the one she has the least relationship with, I'm not sure why she is even their friend other than that she has a crush on Leo.
