The falloff for western games has been huge and the only place you see it discussed is here. Games press are too buddy buddy with western game studios and they think the whole industry is dying because of "greed" or "capitalism" or whatever. But you look at western games right now and they just look like shit. They look outdated in the way Japanese games looked in the 360 era. Japan and even China and Korean games absolutely smoke western games. There needs to be a Western Keiji Inafune that rings an alarm bell and tells these people the truth that their games just aren't cutting it anymore.

Expedition 33 is an exception to western game fall off because they actually learned from Japan and made a cool game. It also shows that you can be a small team with UE5 and make a great game. No idea what western studios are doing with their hundreds of employees making games that look and feel last gen.
