Alain wouldn't ever want to become his sister. I think the story makes this point very clear. Besides, Fat Xiao already did this foreshadowing. I think this dialogue line strongly implies he placed his soul in the ruin robot so Sandrone, his creation, would never collapse or "die" like his real sister did. Alain for sure was autistic enough to grieve like this.

Alain is likely the Ruin Guard that carries Sandrone around. His sister complex was so big, he was probably afraid of his sister's puppet collapsing with nobody able to fix it.
