I would suggest a series of doorbells and surveillance cameras mounted on telephone poles radiating out and away from your fortified compound.

When a zombie is sighted on the camera, ring the doorbell on the next telephone pole away from that location and when the zombie shuffles along to that one, ring the next one and so on until you lead the zombie away like the pied piper.

The surveillance cameras are also good for spotting bandits skulking around.
