Painting all furniture is abomination of a trend that came mainstream just in early '00s (it was also short lived in the very early '90s ut didn't catch too much) due to media that was bombarding normies with made up vision of what goth is (like "Merlin Manson is so goff, bro!"). In the '70s, '80s and '90s "problem" of "furniture being brown" did not exist. It was normal that goths had dark brown furniture. There is literally gorillion of photos from that era with goths having dark brown furniture even in victorian interiors that you need to put some money into to actually bring together.
