>but they seem to be about Mt. Minigami
Yep, visited there today.
> I can read Iwato of Heaven from the tale of Amaterasu
Apparently the cave-like shrine in the halfway of the mountain is dedicate to her. I suppose it's like a recreation of the cave where she hid herself. Pretty cool actually.
>Pyramid theory (whatever that is)
Some people (including like 4 peope I talked with today in there) believe Minakamiyama is actually an ancient man-made (or at least artificial) construct.

There's also lore about there being a lot of UFO sightings there.
>seems to be about the mountain’s geology
Interesting, I wonder what kind of magnetic properties the place has.

Visited Minakamiyama. It was quite an interesting experience. The mountain certainly has a vibe going on. I visited the shrine on the midway and the top. At the shrine on the top, they don't have a crew there. So in front of the main shrine they have these boxes that have a slot for donations and amulets and ofuda. I decide to take an amulet and an ofuda - since Minakamiyama is the first mountain I ever hiked, I wanted to really commemorate it and treasure the fact that the mountain and it's legends inspired me to do so. The second I put in the money to the box I start hearing this really weird "krrr, krrr" type of sound behind me, and something that sounds like a human yelping "ah!". I get kinda spooked out by it. I start to investigate, and it keeps on occuring, with weird yelps and barks that sound something between a human and a dog. This leads me to a nearby pond. A plaque near the shrine says that the ponds are used for salamander breeding, and I saw a frog on my way there. I see splashing in the water. The noise of the salamanders or frogs grows into a huge cacophony. I hastily put a coin into a smaller shrine by the pond and move farther away. The animals in the pond calm down fairly soon.

The source of sounds ultimately turned out to be natural, but the timing was odd. They did not start making the noise when I passed the pond first time. Not when I rang the shrine bell. Not when I clapped my hands. The second, instantly, as I put my money in for the ofuda of the shrine.

I do a tour of the shrine. I notice there's a trailer where a woman is selling something parked next to the shrine. She sells juice and I decide to get some. She asks me about where I'm from, as foreigners are really rare in Minakamiyama. We talk for a bit and her husband drops by in a car. He joins the conversation. He ends up recreating the Japanese creation myth and the myth of Amaterasu Oomikami's hiding in the cave with a mix of Japanese, English and gesturing. He gives me a really strong recommendation to visit Togakushi shrine next. Supposedly Suwa Taisha, Minakamiyama and Togakushi form a straight line.

The man and woman not only knew where I am from, but also knew certain things about my country. I keep stumbling upon people in relevant situations who either know the country or have been there. These included a priest at Suwa Taisha.

I had initially planned to go to Hakuba tomorrow, but I think I will go to Togakushi instead. I only later read that the middlepoint cave shrine is for Amaterasu Oomikami, but while I was in there, I made an offering there. I strongly felt like the cave shouldn't be entered though. so I didn't. Why is this relevant? Togakushi is related to the Amaterasu myth. It's said that when the rock that she sealed herself into the cave with was hurled away, it landed where Togakushi now is. It just feels like such a fated encounter and recommendation. Everything had to line up perfectly for him to catch me there at that moment before he had to return. This type of thing just keeps on happening here.

The soba in Togakushi is supposedly best in Nagano too.
